Product examples: screw jacks and bevel gearboxes in action
Unimec screw jacks and bevel gearboxes – sized and supplied by MK Antriebstechnik GmbH
As the general agency of Unimec S.p.A. in Germany, we supply proven standard gearboxes for industry and special-purpose machinery – in Germany and worldwide. Here you can see our core range and examples of where these gearboxes are in use every day.
Our screw jacks and bevel gearboxes

Trapezoidal screw jacks
The classic for lifting, lowering, pulling and positioning: robust, precise and self-locking. With translating screw (TP) or with travelling nut (TPR).

Screw jacks with travelling nut
The screw rotates and the nut travels – ideal for long strokes and compact designs. Also available double-acting (DA) with right- and left-hand threads.

Ball screw jacks
For high speeds, high duty cycles and precise positioning – with the high efficiency of a ball screw.

Stainless steel screw jacks
Corrosion-resistant and easy to clean – for the food and pharmaceutical industries, outdoor use and harsh environments.

Bevel gearboxes
Distribute the drive power to several screw jacks and ensure exact synchronisation – in many sizes and ratios, also available in ATEX design.

Stainless steel bevel gearboxes
Corrosion-resistant right-angle gearboxes for hygienic and demanding environments – the perfect complement to stainless steel screw jacks.
Application examples for screw jacks
From stage technology to machine tools: eight examples show how screw jacks and bevel gearboxes move loads safely, synchronously and precisely.
Lifting platforms
Lifting platforms move loads precisely along the vertical axis. Mechanical screw jacks combined with bevel gearboxes have a decisive advantage here: they are self-locking. The platform holds any position securely – without an additional brake or locking device.
Scissor lift tables
Scissor lift tables shape the stage sets of major opera houses and theatres – such as La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Arcimboldi or the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. The screw jacks are connected to the platform by a flange. Several gearboxes are driven by a common motor via cardan shafts – precisely, with high load capacity and maximum safety.
Fork lifting systems
Exact synchronisation is essential when gripping and moving loads with fork systems. This is where the double-acting TPR DA screw jack comes in: its screw protrudes on both sides – with right- and left-hand threads. Two nuts thus move in opposite directions with just one drive. Connecting shafts with high torsional stiffness ensure perfect synchronisation. The standard versions cover loads from 1,000 to 25,000 kg.
Roller presses
Roller presses consist of two or more rotating rollers. Self-locking screw jacks raise and lower the heavy upper roller precisely, ensuring uniform material thickness. Accessories such as rocking protection and clevis ends absorb the movement of the roller.
Solar tracking units
Solar modules deliver maximum output when the sun’s rays hit them at a right angle. Screw jacks track the modules by 90° or 180° over the course of the day. As they are permanently exposed to the weather, we recommend bellows or protective tubes for the screw – and, depending on the location, stainless steel gearboxes or a stainless steel screw.
Presses
In sheet metal processing, presses must apply high forces while working precisely. Screw jacks move the screw vertically; together with bevel gearboxes, reduction gearboxes and connecting shafts they form a precisely synchronised drive system. A rigid protective tube keeps the trapezoidal screw free of dust and dirt.
Positioning units for parabolic antennas
Parabolic antennas only transmit and receive reliably when they are precisely aligned. Screw jacks – with either trapezoidal or ball screw – ensure this precision and optimise the entire drive. Unimec also supplies the matching accessories for the pivoting mounting and the screw connection.
Gantry milling machines
For the Italian machine tool manufacturer Pietro Carnaghi, Unimec built the largest screw jacks in its history. They lift the cross rail of a gantry milling machine for Brazil that is 12 m high and 20 m long – with 8 m long screws, 160 mm in diameter and with a 28 mm lead. The permissible lead difference between the two screws was 0.28 mm over an 8 m stroke; the result achieved was 0.06 mm.
